Seven members of Los Angeles’ most infamous graffiti crew, MTA (Metro Transit Assassins) were arrested. They’re biggest work is a half-mile long MTA tag along the banks of the Los Angeles river. They are also responsible for over 1000 tags throughout Los Angeles. Among the members arrested was Smear, a well-known artist who has exhibited in galleries as well. The MTA is not your average group of snotty-nosed taggers. At the time of their arrest, one member drove a $60, 000 BMW, and another wore a diamond and ruby encrusted pendant valued at $27, 000.
